Mr. Eagleton, success as a media director would want to be heard by many students who want to get into this business. So, he took moment to talk to a class of sports writing to tell them about some advices and challenges a person needs to learn about being in the media of a team.
When he got asked what do you need to take the phat you took? He responded by saying “if you know that you want to get into media learn the craft of media and know the importance of networking in social media.” Eagleton, said this to get to know people who are already in the industry, so that you can stay in touch with them and have better opportunity to get hire.
The Cowboys made Eagleton Manager at a young age, so he had a lot of challenges in his working place. One of those challenges was how to be a good leader and he said “to be a good leader you have to figure out how to create relationships with the people and be able to set the vision to make them buy into the vision, so that you all can work towards it.”
As a manager in his working area you can still be able to improve to become better. Eagleton said, that “for me going to run every single day teaches me the discipline I need in my job to keep me motivated and face every obstacle that gets in my way, so that I can be able to achieve better goals.”
“It’s ok to know or not know what you want to do, the fact is it may not happen how you expect it would happen, so the point is to always be prepare for whatever opportunity and to understand your passion and love because when the opportunity comes you need to be willing to step through that door,” said by Derek Eagleton to encourage that preparation is the key for success.
