Weekend Wrap-Up: Duncanville High School Blowout, Longhorns win without No.1 Quarterback, Cowboys Roasted the Jaguars
The end has come to this exhilarating weekend of sports in the lone star state. In where Duncanville high school (5-0) face Lake Highlands (2-4) to keep their unbeaten streak going. On Saturday the Texas Longhorns (6-1) went against the Baylor Bears (4-3) without their quarterback star, then the Dallas Cowboys (3-3) manage to surprise everyone with a smashing victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3). Along with that, away we go:
We Score, but you do not
It was a Friday night where the Duncanville Panthers (5-0) won over the Wildcats of Lake Highlands (2-4) 76-0. Scoring 43 points by the end of the first half and ending with a total of 404 yards. This ranks Duncanville as the No. 2 on Class 6A by The Dallas Morning News’ and No. 6 by Associated Press state poll. SportsDayHS has more here.
Injure Quarterback no Problem
The Texas Longhorns (6-1) did lost their star quarterback Sam Ehlinger in the first quarter of the game by a sprain injury, but they did not lose their hope of winning. While facing the Baylor Bears (4-3) their backup quarterback Shane Buechele step into the field to lead the team to a victory of 23-17. Buechele, gave 184 passing yards, with a pass for a touchdown, and only one interception. Chuck Carlton from the SportsDay has more.
The Defense that Cowboys Dream of
Now that all the defensive players who were missing for the Dallas Cowboys (3-3) came back. The team played an outstanding game while facing the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3) that ended 40-7. In a game were the Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles was only able to get 149 yards passing and took multiple sacks from the Cowboys defense. Kate Hairopoulos from the SportsDay has more here.
