The Struggles of FC Dallas to get Attention

Dallas, Texas – FC Dallas was 1 of 10 teams’ who were in the first tournament of the MLS soccer league in 1996. The club has a great amount of history, but has always had it hard to attract people to become fans in the area of Dallas.

There is many issues the team has to deal with like in the economic level, management, or sponsoring section to have a larger more loyal fan base. But, I think this are not the problems the Dallas Burns are having that is lacking them followers. The main obstacles for me are competition, location and the absences of big names.

In the city of Dallas there are four other big clubs, which are the Cowboys, Mavericks, Texas Rangers and Stars. They all compete between each other to get the most fans, so that it can benefit their team economically. By being in Texas where football, basketball and baseball are more popular than hockey or soccer. The teams from those sports get more fans making it difficult to find people who would want to go see a game of FC Dallas because they prefer to buy a ticket for the other teams’.

Also, the location of the FC Dallas Toyota stadium does not help the team because it is located in Frisco, which is an hour and 30 minutes away from downtown Dallas. Making it harder for the people to drive this far every weekend to go see a team because of the traffic and there are other places to go like the At&t stadium or the American Airlines Center where you can see other clubs.

For the Dallas Burns to get more people to go all the way to their stadium to see a game. They would need something that could encourage the fans to go like a popular soccer player in their roster, which they do not have right now. When Zlatan Ibrahimovic a player who is globally known came to played against them at their home the stadium was bouncing.

If FC Dallas want more love from people of Dallas they need to keep their economic level, management and sponsoring how it is, but they just need to find the way of dealing with the competition, location and the absences of big names.
