Weekend Wrap-Up: Azle High District Champions, Texas Longhorns Second Defeat and FC Dallas Forgot How to Win
The ending to an exhilarating sports weekend on the state of Texas is near. While, Dallas fans wait for the Cowboys game on Monday, the Azle Hornets (8-1) visited the Brewer Bears (4-4) to get a victory that could make them Champions. Then the Texas Longhorns (6-2) travel north to face Oklahoma State (5-3) and FC Dallas (16-9-9) goes to DSG Park to go against Colorado Rapids (8-7-19) who is 11th place on the western conference. And with this sporting news, we go:
Dreams Become True for this Young Players
Already in the playoffs the Azle Hornets (8-1) needed one victory to become champions of district 3-5A division I. It was coming to the end of the game against the Brewer Bears (4-4) with the score of 24-17 and the Bears had a final opportunity to tie with 33 seconds left. But, with an interception from Grayson Burgess, it gave the Hornets the title that took them four years to win again. Brian Gosset from the Star-Telegram has more here.
Three point lead Finishes Winning Streak
Sam Ehlinger, from the Texas longhorns (6-2) was able to recuperate from his shoulder to play against Oklahoma State (5-3). His incorporation to the starting lineup did not gave a win to the team, but certainly help make the score better that ended 38-35. In a game where the Cowboys scored 31 point in the first half, but trying to make a comeback the Longhorns score 21 points in the second half with seven points scored against. Everything is Going Down Hill
FC Dallas (16-9-9) was in the first place of the western conference before losing three games consecutively and know they are in fourth. This was after facing Colorado Rapids (8-7-19) in a final score of 2-1 where the Rapids made a turnover in the last ten minutes of the game.
