North Carolina Outshines Michigan at Home in ACC/ Big Ten Challenge

(Chapel Hill, North Carolina) – On a night at Smith Center, the North Carolina Tar Heels (6-1) men’s basketball team faced the Michigan Wolverines (6-2). The last time both of this teams played each other was at the national championship of 1993, where the Tar Heels won the game, 77-71.

Feeling revengeful, Michigan came to the game to win, but similarly North Carolina defeated the Wolverines, 86-71 by scoring 51 point in the first half.

Tar Heels won the game by having a higher amount of percentage in field goals, three-pointers and free throws made with 54.8, 46.7 and 68.8. Also, at one time in the second half North Carolina lead in the score for as many of 29 points. With this win, North Carolina extends to 26 years the amount of time Michigan has not beaten them.

Even though winning North Carolina Head Coach Roy Williams, was afraid because in the postgame interview he said, “It scares you to death the way they shoot the ball. It scares you to death the way their big guys plays.”

John Beilein, the Michigan coach also speak and he said this about his team, “I do not think we were ready for the quickness, speed and the precision that they run with. We were not locked in defensively.”

North Carolina, man of the match was number 32 Luke Maye, who in the game score 27 points with the percentage of one to two being three-pointers. He also, had six rebounds and three assist.

The best player for Michigan was number 13 Wagner Moe, he score 20 points with one of three coming from three pointers, he also recover nine rebounds and made three assist.

Now the team are planning on their next game, which for North Carolina it is against the Davidson Wildcats and Michigan faces the Indiana Hoosiers.
